The Pabbar river is a tributary of tons in the yamuna catchment. This trek is one of the frequently used trail to the Sangla valley offering two different routes over Gunas( 4,775m) and Buran( 4,750m) passes. The latter one is more scenic. The base for this trek is at Dhamwari 135km from shimla. The Pabbar valley was once well known for trout fishing. Now the trout have been dynamated to near extinction and the old log huts, serve only reminder of the bygone era. From Dhamwari trail climbs along the right bank of the Pabbar passing Deudi village which offers access to the Rupin valley. Steep ascent to the Tagan ridge on the left bank path along the pabbar leads to the village of Jakha on the other side further up is the village Tugnu across the river the hamlet of myla can be seen ascent is followed by another descent to the village Janglik which is the last village in the pabbar valley is strung between the pabbar and the large right tributary on the the Tugnu side. Ascend sharply above the village to reach birch fringed pastures on the right bank of pabbar which offers views of snowy tops. The beauty is comparable to the alpine valleys in the himalayas. Long stretches of flower scented pastures & birch dominate the scene. Litham is the last pasture close to the head of the pabbar valley a walk up the left stream leads one to the view of the glacial ponds of chandernahan which is the source of the pabbar river. The first tributary of the pabbar can be seen coming from the left up this valley, Gunas pass( 4,795 m) is approached which is the easiest route to the Baspa valley. A long pull of slopes and a final scramble over the divide brings up a magnificient view of the kinner kailash towering above the baspa valley. Walk up the slopes & into the kinnaur region along the pastures till one reaches the sangla kanda the pastures of the people of sangla village camp close to the forest edging the pastures of kanda. Walk through the dense forest where birch & fir trees give way to the deodar & pine forests and on the way trek through shivling lake and reach hota kanda camp. From the Chota kanda trail descends to the Sangla valley and finally the sangla is at your foot steps.
