Nubra Valley over Digar la

Nubra lives up to its name as evinced by the numerous orchards of apples and apricots, and is known as the green est valley in Ladakh. Reached by crossing Khardong la( 5,540m), the highest motorable pass in the world and also can be walked up to by crossing the Digar la pass( 5,500m). the trek starts from saboo village which is a small village and from here the trail is a level walk till Lartsa which is the grazing ground of yaks and sheeps in summers, from here the ascend to the pass is gradual, and after crossing the pass the further descend will lead you to the Digar village and hereafter the trail follows the river and continously descendingto the river bed and then continuing along the river Shyok till you reach Khungru village. Next day visit the village and can also visit the Thangyar village which is nearby, and the neat day walk to Rongthil continuing the journey walking along the Shyok river. From here the trail leads you to Kahlsar which is an army area across the Khardong la pass, visit the gompa here and next day drive to Leh which is a 4-5 hrs drive.
