The Indian Himalaya is a vast region, and ideally one could spend months here exploring tiny mountain villages, ancient gompas and piligrimage sites. But for the traveler who has less time to devote, the best option is The Jeep Safari, consuming less time and offering the most.

The Western flanks of the Ladakh region, along the Great Himalayan Range offer a variety of routes, crossing the world's greatest mountain range through various passes in its crest. The Zanskar Valley in particular, is a challenging area where even a casual visit to a monastery or a remote village settlement involves a rewarding safari. The old Hindustan-Tibet road, a very important artery of commerce between India and Tibet passes through here as does the strategically significant Manali-Leh highway, now providing an increasingly popular tourist surface access to Ladakh. Bhuntar and Jubbarhati air field near Kullu and Shimla respectively makes the remote areas of Himachal much easier and quicker to reach.

This area has only just been opened
to foreign tourists, but in order
to limit numbers and preserve the
tribal cultures, the government has
fixed a high price for providing very
basic transport and accommodation
in the area. Catering teams will accompany
you to make it as comfortable as possible
and provide all meals during the tour.
The evenings can be spent in singing
and dancing with the Tribals- each
tribe having its own distinct music
and culture.
